Three Lenoir County men were arrested earlier this week on a plethora of cocaine charges.
A Deep Run man was arrested in Pink Hill last week after he allegedly broke into a building and vehicle, stole child’s belongings and spray-painted multiple items.
Officers on B-Squad were searching the area of Orion Street and Chestnut Street for a 16 year old juvenile that had been reporting missing. Officers located the juvenile and served an outstanding secure custody order. The juvenile was also in possession of a concealed firearm at the time he was located. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for the secure custody order and officers will follow up with Juvenile Justice for additional charges for Carrying Concealed Gun & Possession of a Handgun by a Minor.
Officers from KPD's D-Squad conducted a traffic stop with Tavon Copeland (28 of Greenville, NC) on Cunningham Road/Hwy 11. During the traffic stop officers conducted a probable cause search and located a concealed firearm. Copeland was arrested without incident and placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond for the following:

On November 27, 2023, at approximately 7:00 pm, members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of a shooting that had taken place near the 300 block of E. Bright St. Kinston, N.C. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, Michael Williams Jr., inside a near by store, suffering from a single non-life-threatening gun shot wound.
A man was arrested Monday by Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office patrol units after a vehicle accident that resulted from him allegedly punching his mother in the head and face while she was driving.
A 15-year-old driver reached speeds of 110 miles per hour in a chase with a Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputy early Saturday morning before crashing his vehicle.
KPD's A-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Hines Avenue & Vernon Avenue with Brittany Futrell (34 of Hugo NC) after she called 911. During the traffic stop officers placed a tire deflating device under the tires due to Futrell's actions that led officers to believe she was going to flee.
KPD's D-Squad responded to a Vehicle B&E in the Glenwood Avenue area. During the investigation officers were able to obtain video evidence and identified the offender as Mohnee Bostic (26 of Snow Hill, NC).
A New Bern man has been arrested in Lenoir County on a narcotics charge.
Case Update During the investigation, the suspect was identified as Tyghjheri Jones, 20, of Goldsboro. On April 5, 2024, members of the Kinston Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and State Bureau of Investigation devised a plan to apprehend Jones.
A former teacher assistant at Southwood Elementary School has been charged with embezzlement. Jennifer West, 43, of Kinston, who served as the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Treasurer for the school, has been charged with four counts of embezzlement stemming from an investigation into the PTA at the school. The investigation revealed nearly $16,000 of PTA funds were misapplied in the span of two months.
