RALEIGH: The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 31 grant requests to local governments totaling $10,982,835, Governor Roy Cooper announced today. The requests include commitments to create a total of 565 jobs, 135 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects will attract more than $211 million in public and private investment.
Senators John Kennedy (LA) and Eric Schmitt (MO) introduced a companion version of the EDUCATE Act to eliminate federal funding for medical schools and accrediting institutions that embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. introduced the Safeguarding Investment Options for Retirement Act, legislation to prohibit tax-advantaged retirement plan trustees from considering factors other than financial risk and return when making investment decisions on behalf of workers, retirees, and their beneficiaries.

Linda Rouse Sutton, a familiar name in Lenoir County politics, is seeking re-election to the County Commissioners board, emphasizing her dedication to community service and a vision for continued progress. Raised on a family farm in Lenoir County, Sutton's upbringing instilled in her the values of giving back and perseverance, which have guided her throughout her career in public service.
Over the last two weeks, Congress engaged in a number of critical issues facing the nation: the raging crisis at our southern border, geopolitical challenges in Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, and rapidly approaching government funding deadlines.
Governor Roy Cooper announced today that InfinityLink Communications, a Wired Telecommunications Carrier, has been awarded a grant from the State's Building Reuse Program. Earlier in the day, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) granted Lenoir County's request for $450,000 to support relocating InfinityLink Communications' headquarters to a facility within the Highway 70 West Industrial Park.
Mayor Dontario Hardy, Kinston, NC has been invited to participate in a workshop on enhancing city responses to the local impact of global crises, which will take place at City Hall in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 6 - 7 March 2024.
