Second POD gives Kinston resiliency for line outages

On December 3rd, Duke Energy responded to two electrical substation failures in Moore County. Both were described as intentional vandalism and are being investigated by the FBI and the state Department of Public Safety. Three weeks before the Moore County vandalism, another substation was deliberately disabled in Maysville, located in Jones County. “While our stations are surrounded by fencing and monitored the nature of electrical equipment requires that it be out in the open which can make it vulnerable to vandalism,” said Kinston City Manager Rhonda Barwick.

Murphy to Co-Chair Congressional Academic Medicine Caucus

Reps. Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) and Kathy Castor (D-FL) announced that Rep. Murphy will serve as the Republican co-chair of the Congressional Academic Medicine Caucus (CAMC) for the 118th Congress. Obituary: Shade Aldridge

Shade Aldridge, 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 9, 2022. A celebration of his life will be held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Tuesday, December 13th at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in Mosley Hall.
