Pursuant to G.S. 115C-518 and 160A-269, the Lenoir County Board of Education hereby gives notice that it has received an offer to purchase the Teacher’s Memorial School property owned by the Lenoir County Board of Education. The offer to purchase is in the amount of Two Hundred Seventy-Eight Thousand Dollars ($278,000.00). Notice is hereby given that prior to December 7, 2023, at 4:00 PM, any person may raise the bid by not less than ten percent (10%) of the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) and five percent (5%) of the remainder ($277,000). Therefore, the lowest acceptable upset bid is Two Hundred Ninety-One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($291,950.00).
Detectives with KPD's Violent Crime Action Team concluded an investigation related to narcotics and firearms. The investigation led to the discovery of a handgun that had been altered to fire fully automatic, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. On Monday, December 4, 2023, members of the Kinston Police Department Criminal Investigations Division obtained warrants and arrested John Landrine, 65, of Kinston, for Second Degree Forcible Sexual Offense and Crimes Against Nature.

Peggy Hart Rouse, 89, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, Kinston, at 12:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service and other times at her home. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Kinston, NC.
