Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal. On March 4, 2025, at 2:16 PM, officers from Kinston Police Department's D-Squad conducted a traffic stop on NC 11. The driver, 71-year-old Tyrone Moore of Ayden, NC, was suspected of driving while impaired. After an investigation, officers arrested Moore and charged him with:

Mrs. Myrtle Barrow McKeel Heath, age 107, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 2nd, 2025, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Thursday, March 6th, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Parks officiating. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery.
On March 4, 2025, at approximately 12:30 AM, officers from KPD’s B-Squad conducted a traffic stop on Riverview Lane. Upon approaching the driver, officers observed narcotic violations. A subsequent search led to the recovery of an illegally concealed firearm.
On March 3, 2025, KPD’s D-Squad responded to a report of a gunshot wound in the 300 block of Airport Road. Officers arrived on the scene and located a 23-year-old victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg.
Mrs. Nancy Reaves Justice, native of Mount Olive and former Kinston resident, died Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Williamsburg. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive, NC with Dr. H. Powell Dew, Jr. officiating.
