Filing period for municipal elections begins today

Though 2019 is an off-year for state and national elections, a number of local municipal offices have terms expiring this year.

The following officials are up for re-election in the municipal elections to be held in November. 

The filing period for these offices begins Friday at noon and ends Friday, July 19 at noon. 

Lenoir County:

City of Kinston (four-year terms):

City Council — Sammy Aiken

City Council — Felicia Solomon

City Council — Joseph Tyson

Town of La Grange (four-year terms):

Mayor — Woodard Gurley

Commissioner — Larry Gladney

Commissioner — Albert Gray

Commissioner — Clifton Harrison

Town of Pink Hill (four-year terms):

Mayor — Carol Sykes

Commissioner — James Quinn

Jones County:

Town of Pollocksville (four-year terms):

Commissioner — Mike Duffy

Commissioner — Edwin (Chris) Jordan

Commissioner — Samuel Lincoln

Town of Trenton (two-year terms):

Mayor — Darlene O. Spivey

Commissioner — Rick Green

Commissioner — Robert W. Horvath

Commissioner — Charles C. Jones, Jr.

Greene County:

Town of Hookerton (mayor is two-year term; commissioners are four-year terms):

Mayor — Bobby Taylor

At-Large Commissioner — Arthur Robinson

At-Large Commissioner — Herb Stocks

Town of Snow Hill (four-year terms):

At-Large Commissioner — Donnell Hagans

At-Large Commissioner — Lorrine Washington

Town of Walstonburg (two-year terms):

Anyone interested in running for these offices will need to appear in person to file the necessary paperwork and pay the filing fees.
