The following inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Vance's

Observations:

No ServSafe certified worker present.

No employee health policy available or any knowledge of food borne illnesses or symptoms.

No paper towels available at any hand wash sink.

No hot water from hand wash sink in the restroom.

Several utensils found that were visibly dirty.

Sanitizer was too strong.

No date marking available on any items in establishment.

No thermometer available.

Large evidence of mice in establishment.

No hair restraint on employees.

No test kit available to measure concentrations.

All cabinets in kitchen and bathroom are soiled with pest dropping due to mice.

Drain in 3 comp sink is overflowing with use of the sink or the hand wash sink as it is piped to the same drain.

No drain plug in dumpster.

Dumpster lid left open.

Vent covers visibly dirty.

Crack in the ceiling running from the kitchen to the dining area where the paint is peeling.

Floors, walls, ceilings, soap and towel dispensers, light fixtures, and heat/ac vent covers need additional cleaning.

Employee wearing bracelets and rings.

Plexiglass on the bottom metal shelf under the prep table is visibly soiled and freezer gaskets on door need additional cleaning.

Employee restroom missing covered trash can.

Observations:

Observed food residue on several stainless steel pans.

Items in True 2-door fridge that are used for salad and sandwich bars were not date marked.

Observed medicine, pest control chemicals, and sanitizer on top of cart that contained canned goods.

Sanitizer wiping cloths were in was too strong.

Several spatulas found with damage.

Brown racks in walk in cooler, build up on hood from grease and the sides of the fryers need additional cleaning.

Women's restroom needs a covered trash can.

Air conditioning vents were very visibly dusty.

Employee belongings in several places around kitchen.

Observations:

Several issues with the order of storage in walk in freezer, raw foods are stored over ready to eat items.

Ground beef and tacos in the hot holding cabinet were measuring at 105F and 86F, foods in hot holding should be 135F or above.

Opened salsa from 2/13 was out on counter to be served day of inspection.

Sanitizer was very low.

Lotion and Dry Erase spray are being stored next to the canola oil cooking spray in the storage room.

Two lights are out under the hood.
