On Sunday, January 21, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of 1200 E. Bright St. Kinston, N.C. Upon arrival, officers met with individuals in the area and were able to locate the initial crime scene.
The inmate that passed away in the Lenoir County Jail on Saturday is Stephanie Osowski, 40, of Millsboro, Delaware.
The Greene County Sheriff's Office is asking for the Public's Assistance in identifying these individuals in reference to a felony larceny case.
Marcus Robinson, 38, of Coleman Lane in La Grange, was arrested Friday on several charges following the investigation into the distribution of cocaine throughout Lenoir County. A search warrant was executed on Robinson, who was currently on parole for previous firearm charges.
A-Squad Officers conducted a traffic stop with Travis Myers (23) for motor vehicle violations. The traffic stop led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia and a concealed firearm. Myers was taken into custody and charged with the following:
On Thursday, January 11th, 2024, at approximately 6 p.m., a plain clothes detective with the Kinston Police Department was conducting foot patrols in Wal-Mart, 4101 W. Vernon Ave. Kinston, N.C. While in the store, the detective observed Nelson Hemby, 51, of Pink Hill, following women and children while inappropriately touching himself.
KPD's Violent Crime Action Team received information from NC License & Theft Agents related to Okeith Parker (39). Parker had active Order For Arrest related to Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
KPD's B-Squad Officers were dispatched to a report of a Breaking and Entering at the Tobacco & Vape shop located at 1308 W. Vernon Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and reviewed video footage showing two subjects attempting to enter the establishment, one wearing a paintball mask.
Officers from B-Squad stopped a gray Ford Mustang for motor vehicle violations. While speaking with the driver, Monderico Shivar, Officers observed narcotic violations and had Shivar exit the vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a concealed handgun and narcotics.
A La Grange man has been arrested for breaking and entering twice on Bulltown Road.
On January 8th 2024, KPD’s Detectives received information from the Greenville Police VCAT Unit that Sherrod Jones Jr was hiding out in a residence on W Washington Ave.
Final Case Update: On Sunday, January 7, 2024, members of the Kinston Police Department received a tip from a concerned citizen in reference to the whereabouts of Matthew Wyche. A short time later, officers located Wyche near the 300 block of N. Queen St. Wyche was arrested without incident and placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
Warrants have been obtained for Matthew Wyche, 34, of Kinston, for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Wyche should be considered Armed and Dangerous.
On Friday, January 5th, 2023, at approximately 12:45 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to Kinston Tobacco and Vape, 719 N. Queen St. Kinston, in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with the victims, who advised that an unknown black male entered the business and demanded money. The suspect was armed and fled on foot after receiving cash from the clerk.
