Greene Early College High School has been ranked No. 231 in North Carolina among the 2024 Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings evaluate nearly 18,000 schools at the national, state and local level.
Pomp and Circumstance has played, the diplomas have been given out, and the cap and gown is hung in the closet. We just watched our babies walk across a stage and into a new life as young adults. As we help them navigate life’s next steps, the only thing we can think about is how fast it all happened.
The South Lenoir FFA Chapter held their annual Banquet in May. The FFA Banquet is a one time a year event for students to get recognized for their hard work and dedication in the organization. Keynote speaker Jason Brown, a retired NFL player, spoke on the importance of agriculture and service to our community. Bryan Diaz, NC FFA Vice President, also attended and spoke to the group about finding purpose in whatever work you do. Nearly 200 members and guests attended this year’s banquet.
Daniel Smith, center, received The Sue Marcom Jones Scholastic Achievement Award on June 4, 2024. The award is given annually on promotion day to the fifth grade student at Moss Hill Elementary School with the highest grade average. Also pictured is his family, Derek, Joshua, Bianca & Marie Smith.
SECU Foundation, a charitable organization funded by the members of State Employees’ Credit Union, has awarded $10,000 four-year college scholarships to six local graduating high school seniors for study at one of the 16 universities that is part of the University of North Carolina System. Scholarship recipients are:
UNC Health Lenoir along with other hospitals across the state have felt the stress of the nursing shortage over the last few years and that stress will likely continue. According to the American Association for Colleges of Nursing, the United States is projected to see continued shortages of RNs as baby boomers get older and our aging population sees an increased need for health care.
The largest-ever graduating class at Lenoir County Learning Academy was urged to use the momentum of Tuesday’s commencement ceremony to move them ahead in the world.
A longstanding dream has come to fruition as VFW Post 2771 announced the establishment of a nursing scholarship at Lenoir Community College, thanks to the dedication and efforts of its members. This scholarship, which has been years in the making, is set to support aspiring nurses in Lenoir County and across North Carolina.
As we approach graduation, it's truly remarkable to reflect on the journey we've shared.
Twelve high school students from area high schools will be attending Lenoir Community College this summer as part of the first SEED (Southeastern Education & Economic) Program, a seven-week summer advanced manufacturing academy.
Bethany Divinity College and Seminary, Dothan, AL conferred the Doctor of Philosophy in Religion on Mitchel Paul Sugg last Thursday, May 30, 2024. Sugg graduated Summa Cum Laude in the 2024 class and was also given the Carl Warden Spirit of Bethany Award.
Snow Hill Primary gives out a weekly award called "Terrific Kid" awards. Each teacher at SHP chooses a student who has been responsible, shows great character, or has reached a personal goal.
