From October 17 to 22, 2024, a total of 8,963 voters cast their ballots across various early voting sites, with daily participation reflecting patterns that suggest increased engagement during weekdays.

Charles T. Dudley, a candidate for the North Carolina Senate from District 3, which includes Craven, Beaufort, and Lenoir counties, is drawing on a lifetime of service to advocate for the needs of his constituents. His opponent for the District 3 seat is incumbent Bob Brinson who took over the seat when Senator Jim Perry resigned this past July.
North Carolina State Representative Chris Humphrey is seeking re-election in 2024, running as an incumbent to retain his seat in the House. A lifelong Lenoir County resident, Humphrey has spent decades in public service and business, first as a town council member in La Grange, and later as a Lenoir County commissioner. Humphrey is now aiming to continue his tenure in the General Assembly.
JONES COUNTY — Sheriff Matthew Wineman and three other members of the Jones County Sheriff’s Office are heading to Old Fort in McDowell County to aid in Hurricane Helene relief efforts.
The state’s seasonally adjusted August 2024 unemployment rate was 3.8 percent, increasing 0.1 of a percentage point from July’s revised rate. The national rate decreased 0.1 of a percentage point to 4.2 percent.

Voter dates and deadlines for the 2024 general election in North Carolina:
Unemployment rates (not seasonally adjusted) increased in 83 of North Carolina’s counties in July 2024, decreased in three, and remained unchanged in 14.
Statewide law enforcement will increase patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads during the Labor Day holiday weekend, which remains one of the deadliest times of year for alcohol and drug-related traffic deaths, officials announced Monday.
On May 6 of this year, I heard a report of a school bus crash in Johnston County. My concern was immediate and poignant. Two of my grandchildren attend school in Johnston County. Although I was relieved to learn the crash did not involved with of my grandkids, I was still sadden to learn that eight children were injured when the driver ran off the road for a split second and then lost control of the bus.
