John Thomas Sutton III (Tommy) passed away October 17, 2023 at Wake Med in Raleigh. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Morehead City.
Kathryn Hale Murray, 94, of Kinston, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2023. A Memorial Service will be conducted Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 11am at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Junius H. “June” Rose, Jr., DDS of Kinston, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Kitty Askins Hospice House in Goldsboro. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11am at Westminster United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service at the church.
Lena Mae Hinson White, 91, passed away at UNC Lenoir Healthcare Tuesday, October 17, 2023. A Graveside Service will be conducted Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 11am at Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

On Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to First National Bank located at 1101 W. Vernon Ave. Kinston in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with the victims, who advised that an unknown white male entered the bank and demanded money. The suspect was believed to be armed and fled on foot after receiving cash from the teller.
