KPD's D-Squad conducted a traffic stop on the 3000 block of W Vernon Avenue with Jesse Jones (33 of Grifton). During the traffic stop, K9 Kang was called to the scene to conduct a sniff of the vehicle. Kang gave his handler indication that narcotics were in vehicle
On Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 12:00 pm, KPD's D-Squad observed a vehicle being operated on Vernon Avenue with fictious plates and illegal tint violations. Officers initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle and the driver, Okeith Parker (39 of Kinston) immediately fled. Officers pursed Parker until he came to a stop on the 800 block of Dixon Street. Parker began swallowing bags of suspected narcotics. Officers were able to gain entry into the vehicle, remove Parker, and effect the arrest.
A welfare check on Wednesday turned into a narcotics investigation that resulted in the arrest of two La Grange residents on multiple drug charges.
On Monday, July 1, 2024, Officers observed Eddie Mills (50 of Kinston) driving erratically on N Rochelle Blvd and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, KPD Officers responded to a residence in regards to a sexual assault of a minor that occurred previously. Kinston Police Detectives conducted an investigation and obtained warrants on Tony Gooding (42 of Kinston) for Indecent Liberties with a Child.
Officers from KPD's B-Squad received information related to a vehicle being driven with a stolen license plate. Officers located the vehicle in the area of W King Street and S Herritage Street. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver failed to stop and fled from officers.
Officers responded to 110 W Blount Street for crowd control as patrons were leaving J's Place. Officers received reports that Andrea Broadie (33 of Goldsboro, NC) was unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm. Initially, Broadie refused to comply with the officer's investigation.
KPD's D-Squad responded to the 700 block of Harding Avenue for a report of a vehicle B&E. Officers arrived in the area and located the offender, Zaire Corbitt (21 of Snow Hill, NC).
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey today announced the arrest of David Ward Heath, 76, of 209 S. Croom Bland Road, Kinston, NC. Heath was charged with insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
UPDATE: Mr. Hardy was taken into custody without incident at 11:10 this morning on Washington Street in La Grange by LCSO deputies with assistance from the State Highway Patrol.
