Murrell Ray Broadway, 83 of Kinston was greeted by his Lord and Savior Monday, June 19, 2023 at the home of his eldest son. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor John Robert Harris officiating. Burial will follow the service at Westview Cemetery.
KPD Officers responded to a report of a road rage incident involving firearms. Officers initiated a traffic stop with Dechawn Edwards (31, Wilson, NC). Edwards refused to cooperate with the officers and drove off. Officers pursued Edwards until he came to a stop.
Officers conducted a traffic stop with Johnny Mitchell. During the traffic stop, Mitchell advised officers he had a concealed firearm inside the vehicle. Mitchell is a convicted felon and was arrested for the following:
Officers conducted a traffic stop with Dariontre Drew (22 of Ayden, NC). During the traffic stop officers observed narcotic violations and conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search officers located a backpack containing narcotics and 2 firearms. One of the firearms had been reported stolen from Ayden, NC. Drew is also a convicted felon and was placed under arrest for the following:
KPD Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated subject inside a business causing a disturbance and exposing himself. Officers conducted an investigation and placed Delanore Koonce under arrest for Indecent Exposure. He was placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond.
On Sunday, June 18th, 2023, at approximately 8:20am members of the Kinston Police Department responded to Taco Bell located at 1806 W. Vernon Ave. Kinston in reference to an armed robbery.
