On January 25, 2025, investigators with the Kinston Police Department obtained warrants for the arrest of 36-year-old Benjarman Carraway of Goldsboro, NC. Carraway is facing charges of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Updated: Kinston Man Arrested in Armed Robbery at Circle K
On January 27, 2025, at approximately 2:26 AM, the Kinston Police Department's D-Squad responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Circle K located on W Vernon Avenue. Upon arrival, the store clerk informed officers that the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Bernard Bowden JR of Kinston, attempted to purchase alcohol after hours.

On January 25, 2025, at approximately 2:56 AM, the Kinston Police Department's D-Squad responded to a disturbance at an apartment in Mitchell Wooten. Upon arrival, officers encountered a large group of individuals, primarily juveniles, and detected a strong odor of alcohol.

Historical marker commemorates Gourd Patch Conspiracy
A historical marker was unveiled in Tarboro on Wednesday to recognize the Gourd Patch Conspiracy, a 1777 plot by farmers to assassinate Gov. Richard Caswell and overthrow the state government. The dedication ceremony took place at 17189 N.C. 42, near the site linked to the conspiracy.

Kinston Police investigate shooting on N. Herritage Street
On 01/24/2025 at 10:20 a.m. Officers with the Kinston Police Department, responded to the area of 2400 block of N. Herritage St. regarding a gunshot victim. The victim was taken to Vidant Medical Center via ground unit. Investigations and crime lab responded to the scene and began investigating the incident.
Dudley man charged in sweepstakes business break-ins across Lenoir County
A suspect taken into custody last weekend after allegedly breaking into a sweepstakes business has also been charged for a plethora of other similar break-ins since June 13.
