On February 21, 2025, KPD’s B-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of W Vernon Avenue. During the stop, officers made contact with the occupants when the passenger, Omarion Lewis (22, Trenton, NC), began reaching around the vehicle before throwing a handgun onto the dashboard.

After awarding $81,000 in scholarships across 21 counties in 2024, the program is being offered to high school seniors in 26 counties this year, including in Lenoir County, NC.

Governor Josh Stein announced that the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 13 grant requests to local governments totaling $9,627,500. The grants include commitments creating a total of 785 jobs, 414 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects will attract more than $165.9 million in public and private investment.

LA GRANGE – Fire crews responded to a fire at E.B. Frink Middle School Friday night. Officials have not released details on the extent of any damage or the cause of the fire.
On February 21, 2025, at 02:25 AM., Kinston Police Department officers responded to a breaking and entering at the 2 o'clock store located at 700 Dr MLK JR Boulevard. Surveillance footage captured video footage of the suspect. We are currently attempting to identify the subject in the photos.
