On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at approximately 12:24 PM, the Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad and Investigators executed a narcotics search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of Taylor Lane in Kinston. The warrant followed an investigation revealing that Benjamin Tyson, 41, of Kinston, was operating a drug distribution operation.

A new restaurant from chef and author Vivian Howard has opened in downtown Kinston. The Counter at Chef & the Farmer, located at 120 W. Juanita Rose, 87, reached her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2024. A service to honor and celebrate Juanita’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Rouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
After 33.5 years of dedicated service to the State of North Carolina, Preston Hunter, Executive Director of the North Carolina Global TransPark (NCGTP), will retire at the end of this year. Preston has served in various roles within the Department of Transportation while in state government.
Lenoir County is preparing to send donated supplies and other items to communities in western North Carolina as the holiday season approaches, according to local officials. The materials, collected over several weeks, were contributed by residents and coordinated by various county departments.

Just after midnight today, Lenoir County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 943 Sweet Amy Lane in La Grange in reference to a gunshot wound to a victim.
A Kinston man was arrested by the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Thursday on felony firearm and drug charges in Deep Run.

The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a scammer calling county residents claiming to be a lieutenant with the LCSO. The scam involves an individual threatening residents by claiming they have an order for arrest for missing jury duty.
