Obituary: Edward Earl Moody

Edward Earl Moody, Sr., 82, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 15, at Spring Arbor of Wilson with his family by his side. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23, at 3:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Kinston, with burial to follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edwards Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 23, prior to the service.

Governor Stein declares state of emergency, shares updates on winter weather

Governor Stein declared a state of emergency as emergency officials prepare for winter weather to impact the majority of the state. In a briefing this morning, Governor Stein, Director of Emergency Management Will Ray, and Secretary of Transportation Secretary Joey Hopkins provided an update on the winter weather that will impact much of the state starting Wednesday and into Thursday.

Kinston reports wastewater spill due to power outage on Forrest Street

The City of Kinston reported a discharge of 13,250 gallons of untreated wastewater on February 16, 2025, due to a power outage at the Forrest Street lift station. Approximately 5,000 gallons entered the Adkin Branch floodway. City crews managed the situation with bypass pumps and are working on repairs and recovery efforts. The Division of Water Resources has been notified and is reviewing the incident.
