A 13-year-old student was shot Wednesday evening in the Jack Rountree area.
Kinston Police Chief Keith Goyette confirmed the incident, stating, "A juvenile was shot this evening in Jack Rountree and taken to the hospital before EMS arrived." Fortunately, the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported that he was turning from Old Snow Hill Road when the suspect began shooting at him from a residence on Greenmead Drive.
