On 08/01/2024 around 7:30 am, Greene County Sheriff's Office Investigators arrested 24 year old Destiny Griggs of Stokes, at Maury Correctional. Griggs who was a Corrections Officer at the time, was searched by Maury Correctional Officials.
A man already housed at the Lenoir County Detention Center was charged Tuesday with conspiracy to commit felony larceny in an event that happened on July 9.

On April 4, 2024, officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to Smithfield Chicken & BBQ following a report of larceny involving Haley Walton, a 32-year-old resident of Jacksonville, NC. Walton, who was the manager of the restaurant, allegedly failed to make bank deposits.
On July 1, 2024, SECU reported that 24-year-old Brandon Tripp of Lenoir County had deposited 24 fraudulent checks via mobile deposit. The Kinston Police Department's Investigation Division initiated an investigation into the matter.
